Time for Summer Camp Already?

posted in: How To | 0

Summer will be here before you know it. The minds of parents  will be focused on what summer camps their kids will attend.  At the same time camp organizers are planning fun activities for their campers.

Some of my favorite memories as a child come from Vacation Bible School.  While as a child I had no idea what any of my camp supplies cost or how much planning went into any activity or project, as I reminisce I would venture to say the budget was slim at best. One of my favorite projects (that I still have today packed away  in my keepsake box) was soap carving.  Now granted I love arts and crafts so I will never forget how amazed I was by this project.  For one week our volunteer teacher told us stories as we carved a little more each lesson.  Finally, by the end of the week my project was complete.  My soap puppy!

In today’s fast paced, technology overload society, as adults we tend to forget that children do enjoy simple activities where they can help, learn and have fun.  While carving a puppy out of soap may prove to a challenge (especially in larger groups), I thought of another summer favorite that can’t help but make me smile…. POPSICLES!

Popsicle’s are an easy to make group activity that’s not only fun, they’re yummy too!  So what do you need to kick off this summer fun?

Supply List
  • Popsicle molds (ice cube trays work well too)
  • Measuring Cup
  • Pitcher (easy to grip and pour)
  • Long Handled Spoon
  • Hartley’s Multi Use Syrup
  • Water
Instructions
  • Measure 8 ounces of Hartley’s Multi Use Syrup flavor
  • Pour flavor in in pitcher
  • Measure 40 ounces of water (when working with larger groups, have each child measure 10 ounces each)
  • Pour water in pitcher
  • Stir flavor and water together
  • Pour mixture into popsicle molds or ice cube trays
  • Freeze completely
  • Share and enjoy

*For a healthy snack alternative, replace Hartley’s Multi Use Syrup with Hartley’s JuiceBurst 100% Juice and follow the steps above.

Snack time can be fun while learning how to follow directions and more importantly work as a team. So are you ready to create fun memories for your summer campers?

A special Thank You to all the volunteers and teachers that make summer camp memories last a life time.
